Therapy for Hanover, MA

Hanover runs on a full week. Between commuting into Boston, coaching a kid’s practice near the harbour, and getting dinner on the table, therapy has to fit around a life that is already scheduled tight, not the other way around. Harborside’s therapists work with each person to choose an approach that fits them, delivered by video, on a schedule that does not cost you a half-day off work to get to an office and back.

Therapy for people in Hanover, MA

You do not need a diagnosis in hand or a clear label for what you are feeling to reach out. Some people come to therapy because a specific event knocked them off balance. Others come because a low hum of anxiety or exhaustion has been building for months and they are not sure what to call it yet. Either reason is enough.

Our therapists do not run everyone through the same fixed protocol. A first conversation is about understanding what is actually going on for you, then choosing an approach together, whether that is a structured, skills-based method or a more open, exploratory one. That decision belongs to you and your clinician, not to a template.

How telehealth care actually works

Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and works with patients across Hanover and the rest of the state by video. You do not travel to Yarmouth Port and you do not need a local office. You need a private space, a phone or computer with a camera, and a stable internet connection.

Sessions are typically held on a recurring day and time, so it becomes part of your week rather than something you have to schedule around each time. A standard therapy session runs about 45 to 50 minutes. If medication is part of your care, prescriptions are sent electronically to a pharmacy near you, and follow-up appointments for medication management are scheduled separately from therapy sessions, at a frequency your clinician recommends based on what you are being treated for.

Video care means the appointment starts on time and ends on time, with no waiting room and no drive back into traffic on Route 3 afterward.

What we treat

Our clinicians work with adults and, depending on the clinician, adolescents dealing with anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma, grief, life transitions, and the kind of chronic stress that builds up around work and family responsibilities. We also treat eating disorders through our licensed therapy team, and support attention and focus concerns, including ADHD, through both therapy and medication management where appropriate.

Some people come in with a clear pattern they have named for themselves. Others come in simply knowing that something feels off and needing help figuring out what it is. Both are a reasonable place to start.

What the first appointment involves

The first appointment is a conversation, not a test. Your clinician will ask about what brought you in, your history, and what you are hoping care will look like. There is no script you need to prepare for. By the end of that appointment, you and your clinician should have a shared sense of what the next several sessions will focus on and how often you will meet.

Who our clinicians are

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions. Full bios and credentials for each clinician are on the team page.

Therapy and eating disorder care are delivered by our licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR and a registered art therapist, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Between them, the team brings different clinical approaches, so the person you work with is chosen based on fit with what you need, not simply the next open slot.

What it costs

Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial and a follow-up appointment are listed on our pricing page. If you have questions about cost, you can ask before anything is booked.

Getting started

Reaching out starts with a short conversation about what you are looking for and whether Harborside is a good fit. From there, scheduling the first appointment is straightforward, and it is done by video from wherever you are in Hanover, without needing to arrange time off to travel anywhere.
