Medication Management for Lincoln, RI

Harborside Psychiatrics is based on Cape Cod, in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, but the practice delivers medication management by video to patients across Rhode Island, including the west bay and South County communities of East Greenwich, Narragansett, South Kingstown, and North Kingstown. Lincoln, Rhode Island is part of that same coverage area, and it matters that we say Rhode Island specifically: there is also a Lincoln in Maine and a Lincoln in Massachusetts, and state licensure determines what a prescriber can and cannot do for you.

That distinction has real consequences here. Under Rhode Island rules, Harborside’s prescribers cannot prescribe stimulant medications or other controlled substances to patients located in the state. What we can offer is a straightforward, video-based path to evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management using non-controlled treatment options, delivered by the same clinicians who work with patients throughout the region.

Medication Management for people in Lincoln, RI

Medication management at Harborside happens over live video, using a secure platform you access from a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection. You do not need special equipment or software beyond a device with a camera and microphone.

A typical initial appointment runs longer than a standard follow-up, since your prescriber needs time to review your history, current symptoms, and any prior treatment before discussing options with you. Follow-up appointments are shorter and are scheduled at an interval your prescriber recommends based on your situation, often monthly at first, sometimes spaced further apart once things are stable.

If medication is part of your plan, prescriptions are sent electronically to a pharmacy near you in Rhode Island, the same way most prescriptions work today. You pick up refills locally. There is no requirement to travel to Massachusetts or anywhere else. Harborside is physically located in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and every part of your care, from scheduling to follow-up, happens remotely.

How telehealth care actually works

Medication management at Harborside addresses common mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, panic symptoms, obsessive-compulsive patterns, mood instability, and sleep difficulties tied to a mental health condition. We also work with patients managing the psychiatric side of eating disorders alongside our therapy team. Your prescriber will talk with you about your specific symptoms, prior treatment, and goals, and build a plan around non-controlled medication options where appropriate, combined with therapy when that makes sense for your situation.

What we treat

Your first appointment is a full clinical evaluation. Your prescriber will ask about your current symptoms, your history with medication or therapy, any relevant medical conditions, and what has and has not worked before. This is a conversation, not a checklist, and you should expect it to take some time. By the end of that first visit, you and your prescriber will have a working plan, which may include a medication trial, a referral to one of our therapists, or both. Nothing is decided before you have had a chance to ask questions.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions, and each holds board certification as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Full bios and credentials for each clinician are available on our team page.

Therapy and eating disorder care are delivered by our licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Many patients work with both a prescriber and a therapist as part of one coordinated plan.

Who our clinicians are

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis already to book an appointment?

No. The first appointment includes a full evaluation, so a prior diagnosis isn’t required to get started.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.

It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.

Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.

That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
