Medication Management for Osterville, MA

Harborside Psychiatrics is based on Cape Cod, in Yarmouth Port, and uses telehealth to bring medication management to people across New England, including here in Osterville. That matters because this is home ground for us, not a market we drive into for the season.

Osterville isn’t the postcard version of the Cape that fills up in July and empties out by Labor Day. It’s a year-round village of retirees who chose to stay, families running seasonal businesses who work double time from May through October and then try to catch their breath, and households whose calendar genuinely has two different halves. Medication management has to fit into that reality, not around it. A telehealth appointment that happens from your kitchen table works whether it’s peak season at the marina or a quiet Tuesday in February.

Care happens over live video, using a private, HIPAA-compliant platform. You’ll need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a stable internet connection – nothing more specialized than that. Appointments are scheduled for a set time, the same way an in-person visit would be, and you join from wherever you have privacy: home, a parked car, an office with the door closed.

Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and our psychiatric nurse practitioners are licensed to prescribe in Massachusetts. If medication is part of your plan, prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice in Osterville or wherever is convenient for you. An initial evaluation typically runs longer than a follow-up, since there’s more history to cover. Follow-up visits are shorter and are scheduled at an interval that depends on the medication, how you’re responding, and what you and your prescriber decide together – sometimes every few weeks at first, often spacing out from there.

How telehealth care actually works

Medication management at Harborside addresses common and often overlapping mental health conditions: depression, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, ADHD, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive patterns, insomnia connected to a mental health condition, and mood symptoms tied to major life transitions such as retirement, caregiving, or running a seasonal business through its slow months. We also support functional psychiatry approaches that look at sleep, nutrition, and physical health alongside symptoms. The right plan depends on your history, your goals, and an honest conversation about what you’re experiencing.

What we treat

Your first visit is a full evaluation. Expect questions about your current symptoms, your medical and mental health history, any medications you’ve tried before, and what’s going on in your life right now. This is also your chance to ask questions – about a diagnosis, about medication options, about what to expect. By the end of the appointment, you and your prescriber will have a plan, whether that’s starting a medication, adjusting one, or gathering more information before deciding. Nothing is decided for you without that conversation.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also our clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions. Full bios and credentials for each of them are available on our team page.

Therapy and eating disorder care, when that’s part of your plan, are provided by our licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW.

Who our clinicians are

Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial and a follow-up appointment are listed on our pricing page, and questions about cost can be answered before anything is booked.

What it costs

If you’re in Osterville and thinking about medication management, the next step is scheduling an initial evaluation. You can look through our medication management services, learn more about how we work with patients across Massachusetts and the wider Cape, or read more about anxiety treatment if that’s what brought you here. From there, booking an appointment is straightforward and can usually happen within the same week you reach out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis already to book an appointment?

No. The first appointment includes a full evaluation, so a prior diagnosis isn’t required to get started.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.

It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.

Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.

That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
