Therapy for Hingham, MA

Therapy at Harborside is delivered by licensed clinicians who work with each person to choose an approach that fits them, not a fixed protocol applied the same way to everyone. Sessions happen by video, on a schedule built around a real week rather than around an office’s hours.

Hingham runs on long commuting days and a strong sense of place. Between the drive or the boat into the city, work, and a household to run, a lot of people here do not have a spare half-day to spend on a round trip to an appointment. Therapy that fits into an existing week, without reshaping it, is the practical starting point for a lot of Hingham households.

Therapy for people in Hingham, MA

Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and provides care by video to people across the state. You do not travel to an office. Sessions happen wherever you have privacy and a reliable internet connection – a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a camera is enough. No special software or technical skill is required beyond opening a secure link at your appointment time.

A typical therapy session runs about 45 to 50 minutes. Frequency depends on what you and your clinician decide fits your situation – weekly to start is common, with adjustments over time as things change. If you are also seeing one of Harborside’s psychiatric nurse practitioners for medication management, prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, so a Hingham resident can pick up a prescription at a local pharmacy without any extra step.

Appointments are scheduled directly, and many people find it easier to fit a video session between meetings or before a commute home than to lose most of a day to an in-person visit.

How telehealth care actually works

Harborside’s therapy team works with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and the ordinary weight of stress that builds up around work, family, and daily life. That includes difficulty sleeping, trouble concentrating, low mood that lingers, and worry that does not let up. Clinicians also work with grief, life transitions, relationship strain, and disordered eating.

Some clients come in with a clear diagnosis already in hand and want ongoing support. Others are not sure what is going on and want an assessment before deciding on a path forward. Both are reasonable starting points, and your clinician will help you figure out what fits.

What we treat

The first appointment is mostly conversation. Your clinician will ask about what brought you in, your history, and what you are hoping care will look like. There is no assumption that you will have a diagnosis or a treatment plan mapped out before you arrive. The goal of that first session is to understand your situation well enough to figure out a reasonable next step together, whether that is a course of therapy, a referral for medication management, or both.

You will also have a chance to ask questions about how sessions work, how often you would be seen, and what to expect going forward.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions, including, when clinically appropriate in Massachusetts, medications used to treat ADHD. Full bios and credentials for each clinician are on the team page.

Therapy and eating disorder work are delivered by Harborside’s licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Jacquelyn Duford is also a registered art therapist, which she draws on with clients for whom a more creative approach fits.

Who our clinicians are
