Medication Management for Scarborough, ME

Harborside Psychiatrics is based on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and delivers medication management by video to people across New England, including Maine. Scarborough has grown quickly over the past decade, drawing professionals and families who chose Portland’s coastal suburbs deliberately, for the schools, the shoreline, and the pace of life, and who now need care that fits a full calendar without a long drive into the city.

Medication Management for people in Scarborough, ME

Care happens over live video, from wherever you are, using a phone, tablet, or computer with a stable internet connection. There is no special software to buy. You get a private link before each appointment and log in at the scheduled time.

Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and every clinician on the team holds licensure to treat patients located in Maine at the time of the appointment. A first evaluation typically runs longer than a follow-up, since it involves a full review of your history, current concerns, and any prior treatment. Follow-up appointments are shorter and are scheduled at an interval your prescriber sets based on how you are doing, often monthly at the start and spaced out over time.

If medication is part of your plan, prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy you choose in Scarborough or wherever is convenient. Because Maine restricts certain categories of medication from being prescribed this way, your prescriber will talk with you directly about which options are appropriate and why.

How telehealth care actually works

Medication management at Harborside addresses conditions including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive patterns, mood instability, and the mental health effects of chronic stress or major life change. Many people we work with are managing more than one concern at once, or are trying to understand symptoms for the first time. Others have been on a medication for years and want a clinician who will look at the full picture rather than renew a prescription without discussion.

Some of this work also touches functional psychiatry, meaning your prescriber may ask about sleep, nutrition, movement, and other everyday factors that influence mental health, alongside medication itself.

What we treat

The first appointment is a full evaluation. Your prescriber asks about your current symptoms, your health history, any medications or supplements you take, and what has or has not helped before. You will have time to describe what brought you to this point in your own words. By the end of the appointment, you and your prescriber talk through options, and if medication is appropriate, you leave with a plan and a clear sense of what happens next and when.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also the practice’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions. Full bios and credentials for each clinician are on the team page.

Therapy and eating disorder care at Harborside are delivered by the licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Some patients in Scarborough work with a prescriber alone, and others combine medication management with ongoing therapy from this team.

Who our clinicians are

Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial evaluation and for follow-up appointments are listed on the pricing page, and questions about cost can be answered before anything is booked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis already to book an appointment?

No. The first appointment includes a full evaluation, so a prior diagnosis isn’t required to get started.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.

It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.

Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.

That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
