Harborside Psychiatrics is physically located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and uses telehealth to reach clients across New England, including Rhode Island’s East Bay. Barrington is a town where a lot of people know their neighbors, the water shapes daily life, and privacy about a mental health appointment often matters as much as the appointment itself. Video care lets you fit a session between work and a swim at Barrington Town Beach without anyone in the waiting room recognizing your car in the lot, because there is no waiting room.
Under Rhode Island law, Harborside’s prescribers cannot prescribe stimulants, benzodiazepines, or other controlled substances. What we do offer is careful, ongoing medication management for a range of common mental health conditions, delivered by licensed psychiatric nurse practitioners who evaluate, diagnose, and adjust treatment over time.
People come to medication management for different reasons. Some have never taken psychiatric medication before and want a clear, unhurried conversation about whether it makes sense. Others have been on the same regimen for years and want a clinician who will actually look at how it’s working rather than just renew it. Barrington residents tend to be busy with work, family, and the routines of a coastal town, and telehealth medication management fits into that without requiring a drive across the bay or into Providence.
Care here is not a one-time prescription. It is a relationship with a prescriber who checks in, asks how you’re actually doing, and makes changes when something isn’t working.
Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and every appointment happens over secure video, not in person. Here is what that looks like in practice.
There’s no separate app to buy and no equipment to install. If you can join a video call, you can be seen.
Medication management at Harborside addresses conditions like depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive patterns, mood instability, trauma-related symptoms, and sleep disruption tied to a mental health condition. Many people are also managing eating disorder symptoms alongside a mood or anxiety condition, and our prescribers coordinate with our therapy team when that’s the case. The goal of a first appointment is always to understand your specific symptoms and history, not to sort you into a category before you’ve had a chance to explain what’s going on.
Your first visit is a conversation, not a checklist. Your prescriber will ask about your current symptoms, past treatment, any medications you’ve tried, your medical history, and what you’re hoping will change. You’ll talk through options together, including whether medication is appropriate at all right now. Nothing is prescribed without that discussion, and you’re free to ask questions about side effects, alternatives, or what to expect before agreeing to anything.
Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions, and each brings her own areas of clinical focus. Full bios and credentials for all three are on the team page.
Therapy and eating disorder work at Harborside are provided by our licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Many Barrington clients work with a prescriber and a therapist together, with the two clinicians coordinating on care.
Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial and a follow-up appointment are listed on our pricing page, and if you have questions about cost, you can ask before anything is booked.
If you’re in Barrington and thinking about medication management, the next step is scheduling an initial appointment. You can look through our medication management services, learn more about care across the state on our Rhode Island telehealth page, or see how we work with people throughout the East Bay and Newport County region. If anxiety is a significant part of what you’re dealing with, our anxiety treatment page has more detail on how we approach it.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988. Harborside does not provide emergency or after-hours care.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.
It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.
Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.
Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.
That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
