Mental Health and Performance Support for Athletes in New England

Athletic performance depends on both physical and mental balance. At Harborside Psychiatrics, we specialize in helping athletes strengthen their minds as much as their bodies — supporting mental clarity, emotional resilience, and sustainable success in and out of competition.

Our providers work with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes across Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, and New Hampshire, offering private telepsychiatry and therapy designed for the unique pressures of athletic life.

We help athletes navigate anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, and recovery while promoting focus, confidence, and long-term wellbeing. Our team also supports clients in exploring their identities beyond sport — helping them discover balance, purpose, and fulfillment that extend beyond performance alone.

In addition to addressing challenges related to eating, body image, and exercise, we help athletes develop strategies for emotional regulation, stress management, and goal alignment. Whether you’re striving for peak performance or rebuilding after injury or burnout, we’re here to help you find strength through balance.

Invest in your mental edge — connect with Harborside Psychiatrics for athlete-focused mental health care across New England.

About athletes

If I have an eating disorder, do I have to stop participating in my sport?

Not necessarily! At Harborside, we want to help clients maintain their relationship to the things that make life worth living. We use the SEES protocol to determine the safety of participating in sport based on objective data (weight, labs, vital signs). If you have already had to stop participating, we can also help you navigate return to sport.

Yes! We help athletes navigate the decision to retire/leave their sport and feel fulfilled by other aspects of their lives.
