Medication Management for Boxford, MA

Harborside Psychiatrics is physically located on Cape Cod, but our team uses telehealth to reach clients across New England, including families and professionals in Boxford. That distinction matters here: Boxford is a town of large properties, full calendars, and a lot of driving between Route 495 and the commuter rail into Boston, and video-based care means one less trip added to that schedule. We hear from parents trying to sort out care for a teenager as often as we hear from adults managing their own mental health around a demanding job. Both groups are looking for the same thing: an appointment that fits into a real week and a clinician who takes the time to get the medication right.

Medication Management for people in Boxford, MA

Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and all appointments are conducted by secure video rather than in person. You will need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a stable internet connection, and a private space where you can talk openly for the length of the visit.

An initial medication management appointment runs longer than a follow-up, because it involves a full review of your history, current symptoms, and any medications you have already tried. Follow-up appointments are shorter and are scheduled at a pace that depends on what you are being treated for and how a medication is working for you. Some people are seen every few weeks while a dose is being adjusted, then move to a less frequent schedule once things stabilize.

If a prescription is appropriate, it is sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same way it would be from an in-person visit. You do not need to travel to Yarmouth Port at any point in this process. Everything, including the prescribing itself, happens through the video visit.

How telehealth care actually works

Our psychiatric nurse practitioners work with a range of mental health conditions in adults and adolescents, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and mood or attention difficulties that have not been fully addressed by prior treatment. Appointments may also include medication management alongside a functional psychiatry approach, which looks at how sleep, nutrition, and general physical health interact with mental health symptoms. Every plan is based on an individual evaluation. We do not treat every diagnosis by video, and if what you describe is better suited to another level of care, we will tell you that directly.

What we treat

Your first visit is a conversation, not a checklist. Expect questions about your current symptoms, your health history, any medications or supplements you take now, and what has or has not worked in the past. If you are booking on behalf of a teenager, you and your child will both be part of this conversation, in a way that respects their age and their say in their own care. By the end of the appointment, you should have a clear sense of what is being recommended and why, including whether medication is being proposed at all.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each of them is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions, and each brings her own clinical background to that work. Full bios and credentials for all three are on the team page.

Therapy and eating disorder care at Harborside are delivered by our licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. For clients in Boxford who want medication management and therapy working together, our prescribers and therapists coordinate as part of the same practice.

Who our clinicians are

Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial appointment and for follow-up visits are listed on our pricing page, and you are welcome to ask questions about cost before you book anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis already to book an appointment?

No. The first appointment includes a full evaluation, so a prior diagnosis isn’t required to get started.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.

It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.

Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.

That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
