Medication Management for Milton, MA

Harborside is physically located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, but the practice works with patients across New England using telehealth. That means a resident of Milton can get an evaluation, a diagnosis, and ongoing medication management without leaving home or taking half a day off work to drive into Boston.

Milton is a town of settled neighborhoods and long-tenured families, where people tend to be practical about their time and skeptical of anything that sounds oversold. This page is written in that spirit. It tells you plainly what medication management with Harborside involves, how the appointments work, and what it costs, so you can decide if it fits before you pick up the phone.

Medication Management for people in Milton, MA

Harborside is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and every appointment is delivered by secure video rather than in person. You do not need special equipment. A laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and a stable internet connection is enough. You will get a private, encrypted video link before each session and join from wherever you have a quiet, confidential space, whether that is a home office in Milton or a parked car during a lunch break.

An initial evaluation typically runs longer than a routine visit, since your prescriber needs time to review your history, current symptoms, and any medications you have already tried. Follow-up appointments are shorter and happen on a schedule your prescriber sets based on your situation, often monthly at first and spaced out over time once things are stable. If a medication is prescribed, it is sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, including any pharmacy in or near Milton, the same way a prescription from an in-person visit would be.

Massachusetts law allows telehealth prescribing for a broad range of psychiatric medications, and Harborside’s prescribers can discuss and prescribe controlled medications, including stimulants, when clinically appropriate, in addition to non-controlled options.

How telehealth care actually works

Medication management at Harborside addresses common and disruptive mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive patterns, along with mood and sleep difficulties that interfere with daily functioning. It also covers ongoing medication support for people already diagnosed who need a prescriber to manage refills, monitor side effects, and adjust dosing over time.

Some patients come in with a clear diagnosis and a specific request. Others are not sure what is going on, only that something feels off, and want an evaluation to understand what might help. Both are appropriate reasons to schedule an initial appointment.

What we treat

The first appointment is an evaluation, not a prescription pad exercise. Your prescriber will ask about your current symptoms, your medical and psychiatric history, any medications or supplements you already take, and what has and has not worked before. You should expect direct questions about sleep, appetite, energy, mood, and anything else relevant to an accurate diagnosis.

By the end of that first visit, you and your prescriber will have talked through options. That might mean starting a medication, adjusting one you are already on, holding off and monitoring, or referring you to one of Harborside’s therapists for concurrent talk therapy. You leave with a plan, not just a diagnosis.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions. Full bios and credentials for each clinician are on the team page.

Therapy and eating disorder work at Harborside are delivered by the licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. If your care plan includes both medication and therapy, your prescriber and therapist coordinate as part of your treatment.

Who our clinicians are

Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial and a follow-up appointment are listed on the pricing page, and questions about cost can be answered before anything is booked.

What it costs

If you are ready to schedule, you can book an initial appointment through Harborside’s intake process, which starts with basic information and a short questionnaire before your first video visit is confirmed. For more on how medication management works across Harborside’s service area, see the medication management service page, or visit the Massachusetts telehealth hub and the South Metro Boston region page for more on where Harborside works. If anxiety is a primary concern, the anxiety treatment page has more detail on that specific condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis already to book an appointment?

No. The first appointment includes a full evaluation, so a prior diagnosis isn’t required to get started.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.

It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.

Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.

That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
