Everyone on the Harborside team has an extensive background in treating eating disorders and the conditions that tend to travel alongside them, from anxiety to mood concerns to trauma histories. That depth matters, because disordered eating is rarely a single, isolated problem. It means the person you talk to already understands the full picture, not just the part that’s easiest to name.
Sharon is a settled, family-oriented town, and a lot of its residents are used to handling things quietly and practically. If someone in your household is struggling with food, weight, or body image, you don’t need a polished sales pitch. You need a clear sense of what care actually involves, who provides it, and what it costs before you commit to anything. That’s what this page is for.
Harborside Psychiatrics is based in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, and delivers care by video to patients across the state, including Sharon. You don’t drive anywhere. You need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera.
Appointments happen over a secure video platform. Initial evaluations typically run longer, since there’s more history to cover. Follow-up appointments are shorter and focus on how things are going, whether medication is being used, and whether the plan needs adjusting. Frequency depends on the person: some patients are seen weekly for therapy and monthly for medication management, others less often, and the schedule shifts as things change.
If a prescriber recommends medication, the prescription is sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choosing near Sharon. You pick it up the way you would any other prescription. Nothing about the medication side of care requires an in-person visit.
This service addresses the range of eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, including restrictive eating, binge eating, purging behaviors, and the anxious or obsessive thinking about food and body that doesn’t rise to a full diagnosis but still disrupts daily life. Eating disorders rarely show up alone. Many patients are also dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or difficulty regulating emotion, and care is built to address those alongside the eating concern rather than treat them as separate problems.
Care can include therapy, medication management, or both, depending on what a person’s evaluation points to. The goal of the first conversation is to understand what’s actually going on, not to fit it into a predetermined program.
The first appointment is an evaluation. You’ll talk through your history with food and eating, related physical and emotional symptoms, other mental health concerns, and what’s brought you to seek care now. If you’re booking on behalf of a family member, that person will need to be present for their own evaluation, though you can be part of the conversation.
From there, the clinician will talk with you about what care could look like: therapy, medication management, or a combination, and how often you’d be seen. Nothing is decided before that conversation happens.
Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also the practice’s clinical director, Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC, and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions, including the medication needs that sometimes accompany eating disorders. Full bios and credentials for each of them are on the team page.
Therapy and eating disorder work are delivered by the licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW, Tori Mahoney, LMHC, Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR, and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Jacquelyn is also a registered art therapist, which offers an additional option for patients who process things better outside of straight conversation. Between them, the therapy team brings experience with the anxiety, body image, and emotional regulation issues that so often sit underneath disordered eating.
Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial and a follow-up appointment are listed on the pricing page, and questions about cost can be answered before anything is booked.
If you’re ready to schedule, or you just want to ask a question first, reaching out doesn’t commit you to anything. You can review the eating disorder treatment service page for more on how this care works across our practice, or the Massachusetts telehealth page for state-specific details. Residents of Sharon and nearby towns can also see the South Metro Boston area page for more on how we work with patients in this part of the state. If anxiety is part of what’s going on alongside disordered eating, the anxiety treatment page may also be useful.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988. Harborside Psychiatrics does not provide emergency or after-hours care.
