Medication Management for Cotuit, MA

Harborside Psychiatrics is based on Cape Cod, in Yarmouth Port, and uses telehealth to reach patients across Massachusetts and the rest of New England without asking anyone to sit in a waiting room. That matters in a village like Cotuit, where the population swings from a quiet, close-knit off-season community to a much fuller summer one, and where a lot of households run seasonal businesses that make a fixed weekly office visit hard to promise. Whether you’re a year-round Cotuit resident managing a condition through all four seasons, or someone whose work calendar gets unpredictable from May to September, video appointments let you keep a medication plan going without rearranging your day around a drive to an office.

Medication Management for people in Cotuit, MA

Harborside is physically located at 411 Main St, Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. Appointments happen over secure video, not in person, and there’s no office in Cotuit or anywhere else that patients are expected to visit.

To get started, you’ll need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. A link is sent ahead of each appointment, and you join from wherever you are.

Initial evaluations typically run longer than follow-ups, since they involve a full review of your history, current symptoms, and any medications you’ve already tried. Follow-up appointments are shorter and are scheduled at an interval your prescriber recommends based on your situation, often more frequent at the start and spacing out as things settle into a routine. If a medication is prescribed, it’s sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, so you can pick it up locally in Cotuit or wherever is most convenient.

How telehealth care actually works

Medication management at Harborside addresses conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive patterns, insomnia, and other conditions that affect mood, attention, and daily functioning. Because Massachusetts allows the practice to prescribe controlled medications, this can include stimulant medication for ADHD and other controlled prescriptions when a prescriber determines they’re clinically appropriate. Every plan is based on an individual evaluation, not a standard protocol, and may involve medication alone or medication alongside therapy provided by Harborside’s licensed therapy team.

What we treat

The first appointment is a full diagnostic evaluation. Your prescriber will ask about your current symptoms, your medical and psychiatric history, any medications you’ve tried before, and what you’re hoping care will address. You’ll have a chance to ask questions about options, including what a medication does, what side effects to watch for, and how long it typically takes to know whether something is working. By the end of the appointment, you’ll have a plan for next steps, whether that’s starting a medication, adjusting an existing one, or scheduling a follow-up to keep evaluating.

What the first appointment involves

Medication management and functional psychiatry at Harborside are performed by psychiatric nurse practitioners: Rachel Egan, RN PMHNP-BC, who is also Harborside’s clinical director; Emily Pardue, RN PMHNP-BC; and Kirstin Ritchie, RN PMHNP-BC. Each is qualified to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for mental health conditions. Full bios and credentials for each of them are on the team page.

Therapy and eating disorder care are delivered by Harborside’s licensed therapy team: Hannah Legesse, LICSW; Tori Mahoney, LMHC; Jacquelyn Duford, LCMHC ATR; and Lexie Carchedi, LCSW. Many patients in Cotuit work with a prescriber for medication and a therapist for ongoing support, coordinated as part of the same care team.

Who our clinicians are

Harborside is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly for appointments. Current fees for an initial evaluation and for follow-up appointments are listed on the pricing page, and any questions about cost can be answered before you book anything.

What it costs

If you’re in Cotuit and thinking about medication management, the next step is scheduling an initial evaluation. That appointment gives you and your prescriber a clear picture of what’s going on and what options make sense, without committing you to anything beyond that first conversation. You can review the full range of services on the medication management page, learn more about telehealth eligibility across the state on the Massachusetts telehealth page, or see how Harborside works with patients throughout the region on the Cape Cod page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a diagnosis already to book an appointment?

No. The first appointment includes a full evaluation, so a prior diagnosis isn’t required to get started.

Yes, with your permission. Many patients keep an existing therapist and use Harborside only for medication management.

It depends on the medication and how you’re responding to it. Some patients are seen monthly at first, then less often once things are stable.

Prescriptions are sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, the same as they would be after an in-person visit.

Harborside is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance directly. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement, where a plan allows it.

That’s part of ongoing management. Changes are discussed and made together at a follow-up visit, not on your own.
